"I highly recommend Rob and his team. From the initial meeting, I knew I’d made the right decision, and he’s been amazing in his support ever since. He’s genuine, honest, and always on hand to provide advice – and he’s delivered a website that I’m absolutely thrilled with.

In the 3 months since the online shop launched, I’ve received as many orders as I expected in the first year. It’s been a fantastic investment for me and my business."
The Client
W.P. Horsley’s is a Malton institution. The business has been an important part of the local community since the 1920s, when William Percival Horsley set up a nursery in Norton.

Today, the business runs a thriving floristry shop at the edge of the market square. In addition to selling beautiful flowers for every occasion (as well as giftware, chocolate, and alcohol!), Horsley’s also works closely with businesses across Ryedale, providing floral arrangements, displays, and customer gifts.

The Goal
In 2015, Horsley’s owner and manager, Becky Render, came to it’seeze Ryedale looking to develop a better online presence. The company already had an Interflora site, but it didn’t reflect the business and wasn’t particularly effective at driving sales.

Becky wanted a site that would help to drive the business forward, attracting customers to the beautiful shop and promoting the stunning flowers they have on offer. In addition, Becky wanted to help to develop the corporate services, promoting them to potential business customers across Malton and beyond.

Looking further ahead, Becky saw an opportunity in expanding the online sales platform beyond Interflora, with the goal of eventually launching a dedicated online shop where the florists could sell direct to customers.
The Requirements
Above all, the new Horsley’s site needed to reflect the personality of the business, and to help drive customers towards the shop.

Becky wanted a site to showcase the unique look and feel of the traditional, beautiful shop, whilst focusing on the things that makes Horsley’s special – stunning flowers, years of experience, and good old fashioned, personal service.
The Website
Working closely with Becky and her team, we created horsleyfloristmalton.co.uk, which initially launched in summer 2015. For a local, independent floristry shop, we knew the content needed to tell the right story.

For the photography, we teamed up with Damian Bramley of DJB Photography in York to create some stunning images of both the flowers, and the characterful shop. For the content, we turned to Barnaby Patchett of The Write Words Agency, who worked with Becky to ensure that the copy got across all the right sales messages, in the right tone of voice.

At the end of 2017, we got together with Becky for phase 2 – expanding the website to include an online shop, which launched at the start of 2018.
The Results
The website has had a big impact on Horsley’s business – helping to give them a competitive edge both in the town and online.

Since launching the new online shop at the start of 2018, W.P. Horsley’s has gone from strength to strength – taking more online orders than ever before! The client is delighted with the results, which have far outstripped initial expectations.
